Afternoon half day tour of Jodhpur, visiting the Mehrangarh Fort (Majestic Fort), one of the most impressive & formidable structures anywhere in India. Built by Rao Jodha, this 5km long Fort is on a 125m high hill & has some magnificent palaces with marvellously carved panels latticed window. The Fort Museum houses an exquisite collection of palanquins, howdahs (Elephant saddles), royal cradles, miniatures paintings, musical instruments, costumes & furniture.

After breakfast drive for six hours to Jaisalmer, founded in year 1156 by Bhatti Rajput ruler Rawal Jaisal. Often described as Golden City & rising from the heart of the Thar Desert like a golden mirage the commanding Fort etched in yellow sandstone, dominates the amber-hued city with its entire awesome splendor. On arrival, check in at the hotel.

Late afternoon drive out to Bada Bagh where the royal family members were cremated. Later watch sun set on the Jaisalmer fort.

On our way we will visit Keechan village, home to the migratory demoiselle cranes who feed on the grains donated by the villagers.

Early morning drive to witness the ritual bathing at the Ghats at the Kolayat temple. Thousands of holy-men and local tribesmen gather here to take the ritual bath. This day is the day of Kartik purnima, the most holy time for an auspicious dip in the water.

In the afternoon, we will drive to our desert camp in the middle of the thar desert. En-route visit the intricately carved Jain Osian temples.

On arrival, we check in our Swiss walk in Tents. Each of these tents have private attached toilets with running cold water and hot water will be supplied in the morning and evening.

There will be proper beds as well as electricity in each tent.

Morning 4WD safari in the desert where we will encounter the hardy people of desert including Bishnois, Raikas, Meghwals etc. We will see how these people have adopted the harsh environment of the desert.

After breakfast full day drive to Udaipur En-route visiting Ranakpur.

Now we are leaving behind the arid western Rajasthan and entering the hilly regions of the south. Some of the best carvings in marble can be found at Ranakpur temples of Jain sect dating back to 14th century.

After lunch in a shady glen, drive onward to arrive at the city of lakes, Udaipur.

The city of Udaipur lies in the Girwa valley amidst the Aravali hills of south Rajasthan. It is considered a romantic city - with its lakes, gardens, temples and palaces. The old city is a traditionally planned fortified walled city, a maze of narrow winding lanes flanked by houses with doorways decorated with Mewar folk art, windows with stained glass or jali screens, massive havelis with large inner courtyards and shops. The legendary Ranas who ruled, traced their ancestry to the Sun Dynasty.

This morning visit the City Palace built on the bank of the Pichola Lake, by Maharana Udai Singh in 1570. The impressive complex of several palaces is a blend of Rajput and Mughul influences. Half of it is still occupied by the Royal family, and part converted into a museum.

The Jagdish Temple - (1651) was built by Maharana Jagat Singh. A fine example of the Nagara style of temple architecture. A brass Garuda stands outside and stone elephants flank the entrance steps. Inside is a black stone image of Vishnu as Jagannath, the Lord of the Universe.

Sahelion-ki Bari is an ornamental pleasure garden specially made for the ladies of the palace in the 18th century. It has beautiful fountains, trees and flowers.
